OCTOBER EVENTS AT CRESTON ARTS


September 25th, 2024. CRESTON, IA — Halloween, Poetry, Yoga, and more fun events at the Creston Arts Center.


Yoga for Mental Health

The Creston Arts Center will be hosting four yoga sessions this month. From 9 to 10 a.m. Fridays, certified yoga and meditation instructor Keri Anderson will lead classes focused on mind, body, and breath. Yoga mats are provided, but participants can bring their own. The classes are capped at 10 participants due to limited space. Registration is required online at www.crestonarts.org


Monthly Poetry Workshop

This month’s poetry workshop is called ‘Dialogue with a Ghost.’ Alyssa Love will facilitate this workshop, leading a discussion on the work of deceased poets. The group will meet at the Creston Arts Center from 6 to 8 p.m. October 3. This workshop is free and open to 15 years and older. RSVP is required online at www.crestonarts.org.


Artist in Residence Workshop: Visual Journaling

Resident Artist Beth Bakkum will be leading another workshop at the Creston Arts Center 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  October 5 at Creston Arts Center. In this workshop, Beth will teach the art of visual journaling - a mix of writing, painting, and collage journaling. Registration is required online at www.crestonarts.org. The class is free and capped at 15 participants. 


Clay Workshop: Build a Butter Dish!

This two-day workshop will occur 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays October 26th and November 2nd. Participants are required to attend both days. In this workshop, professional ceramicist Kelly Devitt will guide participants how to create their very own butter dish from start to finish. Registration is required online at www.crestonarts.org. Class is capped at 15 participants. 


Paint with Melissa! Halloween

Paint with Melissa! Halloween will take place 5:30 p.m. Saturday, October 26th at the Creston Arts Center. Participants will use acrylics to paint a spooky ghost with Melissa’s guidance. All skill levels are welcome in this easy-to-follow class. Class is capped at 20 participants. Online registration is required at www.crestonarts.org.


Arts and Fiber Club Exhibition

Creston Arts welcomes back the work of the Arts and Fiber Club. The exhibit will run for most of October in the Creston Arts Depot Gallery. An opening reception will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 4th, at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery, 116 W.
